Ok, everyone ready to further explore the island?

Mike: Nooo...

Peter: Yes! This is fascinating!

Micky: They had to show up while I was in the water...

Davy: You just had to do that, though, didn't you, Mick?

*We open on the trail leading to the huts. Micky leads Peter and Valerie to the camp.*

Peter: Hey Mick, this is nice.

Micky: The Lieutenant did all of this.

Valerie: The Lieutenant?

Micky: We found on there's a former US Lieutenant that ended up here after Vietnam.

Peter: And he did all this?

Micky: Yup, he did.

*Micky leads them to the center of the camp where the others sit around a fire pit.*

Micky: Hey, look who found us!

Mike: (Looks up; he's wrapped with a blanket) Pete? Val?

Emma: Guys! (She runs to them) Are you ok? How did you find us?

Peter: The kids. (Smiles) And instinct.

Mike: Did you bring help?

Peter: (Sighs) Sort of. We did come by boat. The Coast Guard is out looking for you, too, but they don't know we came this way.

Micky: *sighs* Which means I still need to get the radio working.

Valerie: I'm afraid so. The boat won't hold all of you.

Peter: That reminds me. (Sighs and turns to Mike) I think we saw what was left of your boat on the way here. It isn't much.

Mike: I ain't surprised. (He just looks at his coffee, frowning.)

Emma: (Rubs Mike's shoulder) He isn't feeling well, Peter. I think he may be getting sick.

Davy: It was a pretty bad wreck.

Mike: I ain't gettin' sick, Em. Just feel a little woozy, that's all.

Micky: You have a goose egg the size of a quarter on your head, Mike.

Emma: Baby, I think you have a pretty bad concussion, and you don't look so good. Considering how long we were all in that cold water, it's amazing we don't all have raging pneumonia!

Lauren: *sighs* That'll come later.

Peter: We need to radio the Coast Guard and get you guys out of here as soon as possible.

Mike: Why don't we just leave now?

Valerie: Mike, the boat isn't big enough.

Mike: Let's make it big enough.

Micky: Oh, Mike, no...

Emma: If you want to do it, you'll do it without him. (She puts a hand on his shoulder) You're resting.

Mike: But Em...

Emma: For God's sake, Baby, we were just in a shipwreck! You need to REST.

Micky: We're fixing the radio and calling for help. That's it.

Mike: But...

Emma: Rest. Come on, honey. Why don't you lay down on the Lieutenant's bunk in the main hut? (Looks at Micky) Are you sure he doesn't mind us butting in like this?

Micky: Yes, I'm sure of it.

Emma: (She puts her arms around Mike) You'll be ok after you take a nap. (Whispers into his ear) I'll take it with you.

Mike: (Grins a tiny bit) Yeah.

Valerie: (Turns to Micky) Is there any place here I can...freshen up?

Lauren: *grins* You don't want to ask him, Val. He's been known to use a tree. I'll show you.

Valerie: (Chuckles) Thanks, Lauren. The tree thing doesn't work with women.

Lauren: No, it doesn't. *Motions for Valerie to follow her* Follow me, Val.

Valerie: All right. (She follows Lauren into the woods)

Peter: (Sits next to Micky) Hey, how are you feeling? You guys have really been through the ringer.

Micky: We've had better days.

Peter: What happened? That storm just came out of nowhere!

Micky: That was just it. It did come out of nowhere. Visibility lowered and the boat hit some rocks. Some waves rocked what was left of the boat, and we all ended up in the water. We're all banged up in some way. *Subconsciously rubs at his ribs*

Peter: (Puts his hand on Micky's shoulder and frowns) Micky, you really need to get someone to tape up your ribs. I think they're pretty well-bruised. :

Micky: *winces* As soon as I can find someone with some tape for them.

Peter: Have you asked your Lieutenant friend if he has a first aid kit?

Micky: *Groans, chuckling* In all the excitement, I never thought of it.

Peter: Where is that Lieutenant, anyway?

Micky: Out doing his rounds of the parameter. He should be back shortly.

Peter: How are you getting away with all this? He doesn't sound like the friendly sort to me!

Micky: He took a liking to me, especially. He's really not that bad of a guy. He's just a little out there.

Peter: Then he wouldn't mind us checking in his first aid kit for tape?

Micky: Nah. Lets go take a look.

(Peter and Micky go over to the main hut. Peter goes over to a set of shelves on one side, while Mike and Emma curl up on a bed made of an old blanket stuffed with dried palm fronds.)

Peter: Well, this looks like the place. (Puts his fingers to his lips) Shh. I think Em finally got Mike to sleep.

Micky: *As he pulls his shirt off* About time.

Peter: It sounds like Michael got the worst of it. (He goes to the shelves and rifles through them)

Micky: Yeah, he seems to have.

Peter: (Sighs) Poor Michael. He had such high hopes for this whole boat trip. I don't think he was planning on it blowing up in his face.

Micky: Who would? I'm starting to almost think we should expect something bad to happen.

Peter: (Takes down what looks like a yellow hard plastic container with slightly rusty locks) Look at it more positively. Other than your chest, your aura is positively glowing, Mick. You must have patched things up with Lauren. I know that's what you wanted.

Micky: *blushes* Uh, well, I'd say we made a step in the right direction.

Peter: (As he pries the container open and pulls out some tape and gauze) Maybe you can give Val and me some advice.

Micky: Well, aside from having the shit scared out of you...

Peter: (He gently wraps the gauze around Micky's midsection) You know, Mick, you're looking a little bigger than you used to. Have you been eating a lot of Em's brownies lately?

Micky: *Glowers, then winces* Ow...no, I haven't been eating a lot of her brownies lately.

Peter: Am I pulling the gauze too tight?

Micky: *Shakes his head* No, just a tender spot.

Peter: (Nods) Ok. (He finishes with the gauze, then begins taping) Just tell me if this doesn't feel right.

Micky: *Nods* Okay, Pete. *Frowns* Am I really looking bigger?

Peter: It looks more like muscle to me. You have been playing tennis a lot lately.

Micky: *Lets out an obvious breath* Well, yeah. *Shrugs* It's something to do.

Peter: Good. It's good for you. (Finishes taping) How do you feel now?

Micky: *Lets out another heavy breath* Like I can breathe easier now. *Smiles* Thank you, Peter.

Peter: You're welcome, Micky. Why don't we go back to the fire and see if Davy and Daphne left us any fish?

Micky: *Pulls his shirt back on* Sounds good to me.

(As Peter and Micky head back to the fire, the camera roams over to the woods. Lauren leans on a tree as Valerie rejoins her, pulling her pants over her swelled belly.)

Lauren: Feel better?

Valerie: Yeah. I really needed that. Staring at all that water...well, it made me queasy, among other things.

Lauren: I know the feeling. I was queasy before we even got on the boat.

Valerie: Lauren, are you all right? I know how you are with water.

Lauren: I'm feeling a little better. It was so scary, though. If it hadn't been for Mick...

Valerie: He saved you.

Lauren: *Nods* I would've drowned for sure.

Valerie: Why weren't you wearing a life jacket?

Lauren: *Shrugs* Micky was there.

Valerie: (Sighs) How's Mick feeling?

Lauren: His ribs are hurting him, but other than that, he seems fine.

Valerie: How are you...I mean, how are you both doing? Together?

Lauren: Well, we, umm...were together....earlier. I, uh...needed to know he was really...there. You know?

Valerie: (Smiles) Yeah, I do. You're lucky Micky is so devoted to you and the kids.

Lauren: Is it really luck, though? *shrugs* We just get along well. We're each other's best friend. No offense to Em and Dave, of course.

Valerie: (Nods) I always thought I could tell Peter anything, too. We were so close. Now... (shakes her head) I'm not sure I even know him anymore.

Lauren: *Sighs* I think he wants to be the way he was. Give Peter the chance to prove it.

Valerie: I want him to be the way he was. What happened this summer...it really frightened me. Yes, I know it's happened before, and probably worse to Davy, but...they always seemed to recover afterwards. Peter's taken it very, very hard.

Lauren: *nods* You just have to keep supporting him. And most of all, you have to really trust him.

Valerie: I'll do what I can, for all of us. Jordan, at least, seems to be doing better around him. He knows his daddy's aura isn't dark anymore, but he's still a wee bit scared. I wish he wasn't too young for counseling.

Lauren: I think Jordan will come around completely. It'll just take a while.

Valerie: I really hope so. Jordan and Peter are so much like each other, and they were so close. It was almost eerie, how much they were alike.

Lauren: They will be again, Val.

Valerie: We're going to start doing counseling together. I want to save our marriage, and so does he.

Lauren: You're doing the right thing.

Valerie: I need him, Lauren. He was always so sweet and clumsy, and such a good listener.

Lauren: I know, Val.

Valerie: I've told him things I've never told anyone before. Not Dad, not Chrissy, not any of my girl friends in school. There's just something about Peter that makes you want to open up to him. I've told him he should become a school counselor.

Lauren: I bet he will some day, too, or at least something similar.

Valerie: I hope so. As good of a musician as he is, I think it's time he got away from music, before he goes crazy.

Lauren: *nods* I agree.

Valerie: I don't care what Mike says. I really think Peter needs to concentrate on the other thing he loves to do, which is teaching. Yes, I love his music and I think he's wonderful, but it's not making him happy anymore, and that's what is really important in the long run.

Lauren: Have you had this conversation with Peter yet?

Valerie: (Shakes her head) We haven't had the time. I will when I take time off before I have this baby.

Lauren: Good.

Valerie: I wish I didn't have to take time off, but I'm not going to be on my feet while taking care of two small children. We're doing a little better since Peter started teaching again, but he has a LOT of debts to cover. (Looks at her watch) And speaking of the baby, Junior's saying it's time to eat. What do you have at the camp that's good for a hungry mother?

Lauren: Should be plenty of fish and fruit and berries.

Valerie: I'll take just about anything short of something Davy cooked.

Lauren: *Laughs* Good thinking.

Valerie: (As they head out to the camp) By the way, what was Micky doing in the water in February?

Lauren: Taking a bath, what else?

(The two women return to the camp. Peter leans over Micky, who is cooking something on a pan over the flame. Daphne and Davy lean against each other, watching Micky and Peter.)

Peter: Are you sure you should lean that close to the fire, Micky?

Micky: Well, considering how short the handle on the pan is, yeah, I think I have to.

Peter: I just don't want you to burn yourself... (sees Valerie and Lauren come out of the woods) Oh hi, girls. Feeling better, Val?

Valerie: (Nods) Yes, Peter. Much better. (She sits gingerly next to Peter)

*Lauren sits next to Micky, who quickly gives her a kiss on the cheek.*

Valerie: How's the fish coming? I'm starved!

Micky: Almost done. Pass out the plates and I'll start cutting pieces.

Peter: (Hands around the plates he and Micky found) I hope you didn't add too many spices.

Valerie: What about Mike and Em?

Peter: (Shakes his head) I think we ought to let them sleep. They can eat when they're ready. Michael really needs his rest, and I don't think he'll rest if Emma's not there.

Micky: They're fine. *Distributes the pieces of fish to everyone*

Peter: (Smiles; he takes some berries that were cooking with the fish) This looks really good!

Valerie: (Takes a bite of fish) Not bad.

Davy: Nice cooking, mate. See how well you do with seasonings?

Micky: Yeah, yeah. I kinda had no choice.

Valerie: (Her fish is already done) Is there more?

Micky: *Finishes his plate* There is, I just have to get it heated. *Takes another piece and puts it in the pan, then holds it into the fire*

Valerie: Thanks, Mick. (She leans against Peter, who looks surprised, but happy, as we fade out)
