Ok everyone, ready for our next story? ;)
Mike: Yeah. We need this boat ride.
Peter: Sorry, guys. I have classes, and Val's in no condition to be on a boat.
Micky: I know I am! :D
Davy: I'm ready, too. :)
(We open on the docks where the small yacht is as Mike putters around on-deck. Emma looks up from the dock, where she unties the boat, as Micky and Lauren join them.)
Emma: Hi, guys! Ready for a romantic cruise?
Micky: Definitely.
Lauren: *nods* I am, too.
Emma: Good. We'll be casting off in a few minutes. You can go onboard and get settled.
Mike: Yeah, man. We're glad you guys could come.
Micky: Wouldn't miss this for the world.
Emma: We'll be casting off as soon as Davy and Daphne arrive.
Mike: (As Lauren and Micky climb aboard) You guys want anything?
Micky: Rum and Coke.
Lauren: I'm all set.
Mike: Here 'ya go, Mick. (He hands Micky his drink as Emma come up) Anythin' for you, darlin'?
Emma: (Shakes her head) No thanks. I'm going to start working on dinner. It just needs to be heated.
Mike: Suit yourself, darlin'. Just don't do it for too long.
Emma: Wouldn't dream of it. (She goes below deck)
Mike: (Puts his hand over his eyes and looks into the horizon) I hope the weather holds.
*Daphne and Davy walk along the dock, holding hands.*
Mike: (Leans over and waves) Hey, guys!
Davy: Hey, Mike!
Daphne: *waves* Hi!
Mike: Hey, guys! Come on board! We're just about ready. Em's gettin' dinner together, and Mick n' I are gonna pull out.
*Davy allows Daphne on first, then follows.*
Mike: Hey, guys. Want anythin' to drink before we get started?
Davy: I'm all set.
Daphne: I'll take a Coke.
Mike: Here you go, darlin'. (Hands Daphne her Coke) You sure you don't want nothin', Lauren?
Lauren: Nah, I'm fine.
Micky: *Mutters to Mike* She's feeling a little queasy.
Mike: Oh. (Out loud) Hey Lauren, why don't you go below decks with Em and work on dinner?
Lauren: Okay. *Gives them a half-hearted wave and heads down below*
Mike: She ain't takin' this as well as I hoped she would.
Micky: *shakes his head* Unfortunately. She was fine until we left.
Mike: I guess there really ain't much we can do for her. She's not a water person.
Micky: We stopped and got her some sea sick pills. Hopefully, she'll take one while in down below.
Mike: Don't worry 'bout that. Em stocked up on a ton for me. Remember, I don't take this sea business all that well, either. Hopefully, the waves will behave. (Nods at the cabin) Ready to help me cast off, Navigator?
Micky: *salutes* Aye aye, Captain!
("We Were Meant For Each Other" begins as Mike and Micky head to the cabin. Down in the kitchen, Emma hums along with the song as she pulls various pans from the small oven.)
*Lauren puts the plates out.*
*Davy and Daphne sit at the table, staring into each other's eyes.*
(Mike directs the boat out to sea. He frowns at a few little clouds that are suddenly developing on the horizon... )
*Micky hovers over the map, appearing as though he's actually doing something...but isn't.*
(Mike asks Micky if he knows where in the heck they're going.)
*Micky shrugs. He really doesn't know.*
(Emma brings a small pot roast and potatoes and carrots and a casserole for Davy to the table. She puts some candles out, but doesn't light them. The boat is beginning to pitch a bit.)
(Mike comes downstairs to see how the girls are doing...and to get some seasickness pills. Emma takes him in her arms, and they embrace briefly...before he runs for the nearest bathroom.)
*Lauren motions that she needs to get some air and heads upstairs. She goes out to the railing. We see Micky prop the wheel in place, then go out to join Lauren.*
*Micky leads Lauren with an arm around her shoulders back down below.*
(Emma sighs and goes to the cabin, looking out on the water. There's a few more clouds there now, and they're darker. Mike joins her, looking a little green but not too bad.)
(Mike puts his arm around Emma, and she leans into him. She gives him a deep kiss as the song ends.)
Emma: (As they continue to kiss) Ready for dinner, honey?
Mike: (He's barely listening) Uh-huh. The water ain't that bad. We'll toss the anchor here, then head back for land after we eat and... (kisses her neck lightly) enjoy ourselves.
Emma: (Pulls away) Save that for after dinner, dear.
Mike: Oh good. Dessert.
(Emma giggles. Mike goes to put the anchor down.)
(Cut to an area next to the kitchen, alongside a long series of windows that give a panoramic view of an increasingly dark skyline. Emma serves pot roast to the crew and casserole to Davy.)
Mike: (Sighs) Sorry I ain't up to more of your pot roast, darlin'. The sea's actin' up.
Emma: Maybe we ought to start back...
Mike: We barely got started!
Emma: I don't like the look of those clouds.
Mike: (Shrugs) We're gonna turn around eventually. I don't want to be on the water after dark, and we do have kids to take care of. But... (sighs) We're out here. Don't you wanna...
Emma: Well, yes, but honey, those clouds look pretty nasty, and the water's already getting rougher. Micky, watch the gravy boat. It's heading for your lap.
Micky: I have my eye on it.
Lauren: In more ways than one.
Emma: (She reaches for her glass before it falls over) Now you know why I didn't want to light the candle.
Mike: (He's looking a little pale) It ain't as romantic!
Emma: It's also less likely to burn the boat down. At least it LOOKS good.
*Davy and Daphne are having their own grand time.*
Mike: Hey darlin'... (He leans over to kiss her...and falls into her lap and out of the camera's range. We hear him say from off-camera, though we can still see part of his arms and torso) Hey, I kinda like this view. I could get to enjoyin' this.
Emma: You can't eat down there. We'll get to that presently.
Lauren: *Pushes her plate away* I'm done.
Micky: *Puts an arm around Lauren* Can I finish it?
Lauren: Go ahead, Mick.
Mike: (Still on her lap) Uh darlin'...I don't feel so good.
Emma: (Jumps up) Oh boy...
Mike: (Still off-camera - sound of his head dropping to the chair) Ow.
(Mike is finally seen heading out to the bathroom again.)
Emma: Anyone want some more (she grabs the basket of biscuits) before it all ends up on the floor?
Micky: I'll take some!
Emma: Help (catches the casserole dish) yourself.
Micky: I think I will. *Dives in*
Lauren: *groans* Mick...
Emma: (Shakes her head as the candles fall over) I don't think I'm really hungry anymore. I'm going to start cleaning up.
Lauren: I think I'm gonna get some more fresh air. *Gets up*
Micky: *Mouth full* I'll come out when I'm done.
Lauren: Okay, Mick. *Heads out*
Emma: (As she gets up) How about you guys? Davy, do you want any more casserole?
Davy: I'm all set. How about you, luv?
Daphne: I'm set, too.
Emma: You guys go and enjoy the view on-deck. (She nods at the gathering clouds) I'm going to talk Mike into taking us back when he gets out of the bathroom. I know the weather said it was supposed to be decent today, but it's getting colder and it's really starting to look bad.
*Davy and Daphne head on deck.*
Emma: Need anything else, Mick?
Micky: I'm fine. *Finishes his plate* Here ya go, Em. I'm gonna check on Lauren.
Emma: (Nods) I'll to join you in a minute. (Takes the plate) Thank you.
*Micky heads up on deck.*
(Cut to on-deck. Everyone is there as the clouds continue to gather. The wind is becoming heavier, whipping around the small craft.)
Emma: (As she joins the others) Mike is in the cabin now. He's turning us around for home. (Looks around her) I really don't like this at all. (She tries to make her way to the railing, but ends up on the deck, thanks to the tossing and turning craft) Ow! Oh, my rear!
Micky: *shakes his head* I can't believe how the weather has turned!
Emma: It seems really strange. It was a gorgeous, sunny day when we came out!
Davy: Well, we tried, mates.
Emma: (As she gets to her feet rather wobbily) Maybe we ought to go below-deck. (Sighs) I wonder what's taking Mike so long! I can't even see land yet!
Micky: Maybe he got sick again.
Emma: (Nods) Someone really ought to check up on him. I'm worried. I know he hasn't been drinking because he's been driving the boat, but he wasn't looking good earlier.
Micky: *Gazing down at Lauren* And Lauren has a similar look.
*Lauren swats at him, keeping her head down.*
Emma: Micky, you're the navigator. Maybe you ought to go talk to Mike and see what's going on. I really don't want us out here if the weather's going to get nasty.
Micky: *Rubs between Lauren's shoulder blades, nodding* Sure. I just hope he's not in the bathroom again. *Heads for the cabin*
Emma: (Puts her arms around Lauren's shoulders) Do you want to go into the cabin?
Lauren: No. The fresh air feels good.
Emma: (Sighs) I hope Mike and Micky can get us home soon.
(Cut to the cabin. Mike leans against the wheel, looking more than a little green.)
Mike: Man...wish Mother Nature would stop rockin' the boat for five minutes...
Micky: *enters the cabin* Man, Mike, lemme help out.
Mike: Mick...you can't drive...
Micky: You can tell me how, can't you?
Mike: Yeah, I could...but Mick...I's fine... (The boat heaves to one side; Mike turns three shades of pale) Jus' fine...
Micky: No, you're not, Mike! Just tell me what to do, and I'll do it!
Mike: Mick...take wheel...
Micky: *Takes the wheel* No problem!
Mike: Ok...see the lever on your left... (As the boat lurches again) Oooh...
Micky: Lever on my left...yeah. *puts his left hand on it*
Mike: That increases...decreases speed... (The boat jumps again) Ooh man...
Micky: *Decreases speed slightly* Heyyy... I like this!
Mike: Careful...Mick. Watch...handling... (Boat hits a series of waves) Oh man...
Micky: I'm trying, Mike! It's the waves!
Mike: Keep an eye...on...fuel and speed...gages. Watch for...other...craft.... (Another large bump and some tossing and turning) Ooohhh..
Micky: I really don't think we're gonna come across any other crafts out here.
Emma: (Runs into the cabin; she now wears a life jacket) Guys, it's really bouncy out there. Lauren looks terrible. We really, REALLY need to get home. It could rain any minute, and the wind's getting worse.
Mike: Em, get everyone...into life jackets....
*Micky mutters to himself.*
Emma: Mike? (She goes to him) Oh honey, you look horrible!
Mike: I feel horrible. Feel...sick...
Emma: I need to get you below-decks. (Eyes widen) But who's gonna drive the boat? Does it have auto-pilot?
Mike: Micky...
Emma: He doesn't know how!
*Micky mutters again.*
Emma: Maybe I ought to send Lauren in here and get Mike out for some air. I don't care what Lauren says. I don't want her out in that storm if it's going to get rough. She can't swim if we end up going down.
Mike: Won't go down...can't...
Emma: Considering the weather, honey, I'd say it's a distinct possibility.
Micky: *grits his teeth* We are NOT going down!
Emma: Micky, look at the weather!
Mike: We'll...get home...
Micky: We're gonna be fine...
Emma: Micky, no we're not! The weather's getting worse! Look! (Points to heavy rain drops) It's starting to come down!
Mike: Em...don' panic...i's be ok...
Micky: *Forceful, but fearful* I'm NOT letting us go DOWN!
Emma: Mike, no, you're NOT ok! (She takes him in her arms) I have to get you downstairs to the bathroom.
Mike: Oh darlin'....you're so warm...(as Micky turns again and the boat bounces and rocks) Oooh, my stomach...
Micky: Sorry!
Emma: Mike, do you think you could try to steer the ship?
Mike: (As Emma helps him to his feet) Maybe... (Suddenly, another huge wave sends both of them to their knees) Maybe not. I...I could try...Mick...
Micky: If you're gonna do something, do it!
(Mike lunges for the wheel, Emma holding onto him.)
Emma: Micky, go to Lauren. I don't want her going over in this. Help her get into her life jacket, and make sure the others are wearing theirs.
Mike: (Grabs the steering wheel) I can do this...have 'ta...
Emma: (Eyes widen as she points to an outcropping of jagged rocks - the boat's heading right for it) Honey, watch out!
Mike: Oh man... (He tries to steer the boat, but it's too late)
(Cut to on-deck. Davy and Daphne hold each other for dear life.)
*Lauren remains huddled by the rails. Micky comes on deck. He barely touches her shoulder, and she jumps up into his arms.*
Davy: Mates, this is crackers! Micky, do you know how close we are to shore?
Micky: *shakes his head* Not really, no. I think I really didn't help anything down there.
Daphne: (Shakes Davy's shoulders) Davy...
Davy: Luv, what is it?
Daphne: (Points to the same outcropping of rocks we saw before) Don't those look awfully sharp?
Davy: And don't WE look awfully close to them? :o
Micky: *Eyes widen; he sees them over Lauren's head* Oh SHIT!
Davy: (Grabs Daphne) Oh luv...
Daphne: Oh, we're in TROUBLE!
(And the boat does, indeed, hit the rocks. Emma just barely manages to pull Mike away from them as the rocks smash into the cabin. She pulls the pale-looking Mike onto what remains of the decks.)
Emma: Guys, the cabin's toast. The rocks smashed through it like it was nothing. We're going to have to abandon ship.
Mike: But darlin'...
Emma: I don't want to hear a word out of you. This stupid boat was YOUR idea in the first place!
Mike: Yeah, but... (There's another wave, and what's left of the boat tilts against the rock, throwing everyone to the end of the ship; Mike ends up against Emma and Micky) Ow.
Emma: That's it. Everyone grab a life jacket or preserver and jump for it.
Mike: Darlin'... (There's another thump as the front steerage area starts to break apart)
Emma: Mike, enough...whoa! (There's another huge wave; everyone clings to each other, but Mike loses Emma's hand) HONEY!
Mike: DARLIN'! (He grabs the side of the boat before he goes over, but the wind is lashing fiercely and the waves are huge)
Emma: Oh no... (She tries to make her way to Mike, but it's slippery) I have to...
Mike: No! (A gigantic wave suddenly looms over the ship) Darlin', GET BACK!
Emma: MIKKKKKEEEE! (The wave crashes onto the boat, splintering it and sending all six sliding into the water!)
(Emma tries to go after Mike when she's sent into the water, but he's carried away from her in the currents.)
(Mike tries to pull himself to the top of the water, but the strong currents hold him down. He finally makes it to the top, managing to grab a piece of driftwood before he passes out.)
*Micky surfaces and brushes his hair out of his face. He looks around. No Lauren.*
Micky: *Yells the best he can* LAUREN!
*Micky looks all around, then he takes a deep breath and dives under. It's nearly a full minute before Micky resurfaces, now closer to the sandy beach of the nearby island. He's not alone. He tugs Lauren up so she's reclined against his chest as he backstrokes toward the beach.*
(Emma is seen near them, clutching a life preserver. She sees two heads bobbing in the waves and follows them to the island.)
*On another part of the beach, Daphne and Davy are seen holding each other as they leave the water.*
(Emma crawls up near-by, just passing out as she hits the shore.)
(Cut to a brief glimpse of Mike and his driftwood being washed up on-shore. We only get enough to see that he's breathing.)
*Micky reaches the shore, half-dragging Lauren. She coughs as he flops face-down into the sand.*
(We fade out on the rapidly abating storm and on Micky and Lauren's unconscious but breathing forms on the shore, as a ragged sunset is seen over them.)
